Set up My Interview AI

Three steps, about ten minutes. Your profile teaches the AI who you are so answers sound like you. Your API key lets the app talk to the AI provider directly. Both are saved only in this browser.

1 Who you are

Write in plain language, in any order. The more real detail and real numbers you give, the more specific and believable the answers. Nothing here needs to be polished — the AI reads it, the interviewer never does.

Current job, years of experience, what you are known for, and how you describe your role. Two to eight lines.
Role, company, and why you want it. Paste the job description too if you have it — the AI uses it to guess what the interviewer will probe.
This is the most important box. For each project: what it was, your role, what you did, what happened, and the real numbers. Include a failure, a disagreement, and a time you had to influence people without authority — interviewers ask for all three. Three to six projects is ideal.
Company names, product names, tools, acronyms. Live transcription mangles these — the AI uses this list to repair them.
Your headline results. The AI will use these word for word and never invent or inflate them.

2 AI provider and key

Pick a provider, get a key from their website, paste it here. The key stays in this browser and is sent only to that provider. You pay the provider directly for what you use.

3 Microphone

The app listens through your microphone and transcribes whatever it hears. For a video call, play the call through your speakers, not headphones, so the mic can hear the other person. Sit close, keep the volume normal.

  1. Close this screen and click 🎤 Start Listening. Chrome asks for microphone permission — click Allow.
  2. Say a sentence. It should appear in the left pane within a second.
  3. Press Enter. The sentence is sent as a question and the mic mutes so your own answer is not captured. Press \ to listen again.
Opened as a file, Chrome asks for the microphone every time you open the app. That is normal — click Allow.

How to use it in a live call
Start listening before the call. While the interviewer talks, their words collect in the dashed box. When they finish the question, press Enter: the question is sent, the answer streams in on the right, and the mic mutes. Read the answer in your own words. Press \ to listen for the next question. Press Esc to throw away small talk you don't want answered.

If the interviewer sends something in writing (chat, a slide, a diagram), take a screenshot and paste it anywhere on the page with Ctrl/Cmd+V. The AI reads the image and answers. Pasting plain text works the same way.

Under every answer are feedback chips: "Shorter", "More technical", or your own note. Click one and the answer is rewritten. After a rewrite, "Always do this" saves that feedback as a permanent rule.
Practice mode (🎭 Interview Me)
The AI becomes your interviewer for the job in your profile. It asks one question, you answer out loud, press Enter, and it grades your answer and asks the next one. Use it the days before the interview. Export the session at the end to review.
What it costs
Transcription is free. Each AI answer sends your whole profile plus the question to the provider. Depending on the model, that is roughly one to five cents per answer, so a one-hour interview is usually under a dollar or two. Set a monthly spending limit in your provider's billing page so a mistake can never cost more than you chose.
Something is wrong
No words appear when I speak. Check the red dot: if it is red, click the lock icon in Chrome's address bar and allow the microphone. Make sure you are in Chrome or Edge.
The words are garbled. Normal for names and jargon. Add them to "Names and jargon" in your profile; the AI repairs them. Move closer to the speaker, or raise the call volume a little.
"Invalid API key". Paste the key again with no spaces. Keys from one provider do not work with another.
"Out of credits". A chat subscription (ChatGPT Plus, Claude Pro) does not include API credits. Add prepaid credit on the provider's billing page.
"Model not found". The model name is wrong for this provider. Pick one from the list or check the provider's model page.
It captured my own voice. Press Enter or \ before you start talking; both mute the mic.
Privacy
This is a single file that runs in your browser. Your profile and key are stored in the browser's local storage on this computer only. Each answer request goes directly from your browser to the AI provider you chose. Nobody else, including the maker of this app, receives anything. Clear the browser's site data to erase everything.
